When it comes to the perfect primer. I want to create a nice flawless canvas to apply my foundation to I sure we can all agree on that. I always look for a primer that smoothes out bumps, minimize pores, reduces redness and leaves my skin feeling soft and fresh. That’s not too much to ask for is it?
Today I am sharing with you the best primers that do just that. Some of them do everything and others not as much in this case I will some times use two primers so I’m really targeting the areas I need.
This is a new addition to my favourites its made its way in there because I have fallen in love.
When applied this primer has a cooling gel like consistency, it blends out to mattify, blur your pores and dries matte. It feels so cooling and hydrating on my skin, I just love it in the mornings getting ready for work or the day and the smell helps with feeling refreshed and awake.
It feels kind of sticky/tacky on the face at first and I feel like that is what makes the foundation stay on longer. This is the best primer for those of you with oily or combination skin because it stops those oils from coming through throughout the day.
A little on the pricey side but lasts so well. The good old porefessional a well-known primer for so many good reasons. I love using mine after I have used the porefessional matte rescue. I apply the porefessional to key areas like nose, pores, forehead and over any bumps or scarring by pressing the primer gently into the skin, to smooth out areas and minimize pores before applying my makeup. This little gem it creates a nice even flawless base to apply your foundation.
Some days when my skin feels congested and bumpy I will apply all over my face in a thin layer not just in key areas. I feel like I have just used up my second tube in over 2 years because you only need a small amount it will last you well. Porefessional has a thick consistency, but spreads like and feels like velvet on the skin. Now who doesn’t love that feeling?
This primer is a must have if you have visible pores or bumps you need smoothed out before applying our makeup.
I adore this primer for two main reasons, it reduces redness and evens out skin tones, and second because it’s so hydrating perfect for those of you who have drier skin types.
The primer has 3 colours combined into it. Green is for reducing redness, Lavender for eliminating yellow undertones and peach to brighten and illuminate. Creates a nice even base to apply makeup to and lasts a good amount of time for the money your spending. I love to use this on its own for days when I’m not doing a lot but just want to even out my redness and skin tone.
Another great primer for reducing the appearance of my redness. I even love using this on its own like the Stila One step correct, it too covers my redness and evens my skin tone. Also a good choice for dry skin as it hydrates the skin.
This primer comes in different varieties, normal, brightening and BB primer. As I look for a primer to reduce my redness I have only tried the neutralizing one but heard amazing things about the other versions.
Hourglass Veil Primer $54 USD
This baby is a satin dream. I got so many of my friends and family on to it because it is so damn good. It also a dream for those of us with oily and combination skin because it makes your makeup last longer by stopping the oils from coming through. Not only does it feel like a dream on the skin it also counteracts your redness. The silk like consistency melts into skin while minimalizing pore size and fine lines. Could we ask for anything more ?
The Hourglass Veil primer is Super expensive, the normal 30 ML size is $79 USD but I always buy the 8.5ml for and seems to last me so well. If I didn’t already own so many primers I would buy the full size to use everyday. The packaging is super luxe, which makes up for the money your spending.
Since my whole post was heading towards high end products. I thought I would include my favourite drug store primer. The Rimmel Fix + protect I loved since I received it a few years ago.
Although it doesn’t reduce redness, it creates a smooth flawless base. The consistency blends out and creates a base that acts like glue for your foundation to stick to. That’s why I’m such a fan because it will help your makeup last longer which is what we all want. Super in expensive and accessible for so many of us.
Primers are another product that I love to buy. I love experimenting to create my perfect base to achieve that all overall perfect look. I would love to check out what your favourite primers are. Please comment below your favourite primers and why you love them.
